How to use Physiotherapy to keep your resolutions

By September 19th, 2025No Comments

You’ve worked hard all year to meet your goals and hit your personal bests in 2018, but why stop there?  New year, new resolutions!  2018 has come and gone. 2019 is the year you can strive to reach new heights.

Start small for big gains

Regardless of what you’re training for we know you’ll be working hard this year to set some new records for yourself.  You might be eager to push your workouts at a fast pace, but it’s more important to properly train so you can stay healthy and keep yourself in the gym.

To prevent injury, follow the principles of progressive loading. While you’re steadily ramping up your training, you aren’t stressing your body past its limits.  Remember to sandwich your workouts between dynamic warm up and cool down sessions to keep your blood flowing and to maintain and improve your mobility.  And of course, always stay hydrated.

How to stay on track

Now that you’ve set your new resolutions and have workout plans in place for 2019, how do you stay on track?  Physiotherapy and massage therapy can optimize your body’s functional performance to help you achieve your goals.

Our physiotherapists in Markham do this in a variety of ways, including decreasing pain and managing your injuries.  We can even work with you and design a routine for your current level of fitness to best avoid injury. Physiotherapy can also help you with increasing your functional strength and mobility and attaining proper joint alignment. The knowledge of how to work out may be just as essential as the act of working out. If you’ve had excuses before – an injury or nagging pain may keep you from your goals and out of the gym. If you can avoid obstacles, you can attain your goals with robust diligence.

Meanwhile, massage therapy can effectively relieve musculoskeletal tension in your body to reduce the effects of stress, so you can stay active and keep training hard. Body awareness is a critical factor in training, and a registered massage therapist can identify and resolve problems before they arise.

Here at The Physio Spot, we offer physiotherapy in Markham with skilled and highly trained physiotherapists looking forward to helping you achieve your new resolutions and take your performance to the next level.  Come swing by, and we’ll work towards a successful 2019 together!
