Meet our medical doctor:
Dr. Justin Losier, BHSc (Hons), MD, CCFP-EM PEM
Our consulting physician works closely with your physiotherapist to review your health history, perform a focused assessment, rule out red flags, and recommend the next best steps. Their goal? To provide clear answers and support your rehabilitation with the medical tools physiotherapists can’t provide on their own.
We offer Medical Doctor services to help clients with a range of conditions, including diagnosis of sports and other injuries, referral to specialists, referral to diagnostic tests such as blood work, ultrasound, x-ray and MRIs. Our Doctor can also prescribe medications, braces and referrals to rehab specialists, such as Physiotherapists and Massage Therapists in Markham and Stouffville.
Why a medical consult can elevate your physiotherapy
At The Physio Spot, your recovery isn’t guesswork — it’s guided by expertise at every step. Having a medical doctor available provides clarity, safety, and a treatment plan grounded on a complete understanding of your injury. Whether you’re dealing with a new injury, lingering pain, or a condition that needs a closer look, a doctor’s assessment helps your physiotherapist create the most effective rehab plan for you.
This service is available virtually or in-clinic, and it’s designed to work hand-in-hand with your physio sessions.
Why a medical consult can elevate your physiotherapy
- A clearer diagnosis means a clearer path forward
A medical doctor can identify what’s really causing your symptoms — and rule out serious conditions like fractures, infections, or nerve involvement. This ensures it’s safe to move ahead with physiotherapy and helps your physio tailor your plan with confidence. - Access to imaging and tests when you need them
If your injury requires further investigation, the physician can order X-rays, MRIs, ultrasounds, or blood tests. These tests help confirm your diagnosis and guide your treatment more precisely. - Prescription support for pain and inflammation
Sometimes recovery needs extra help. Your doctor can prescribe medications or recommend targeted injections to reduce pain and inflammation. When your pain is under control, physiotherapy becomes more comfortable and more effective. - Referrals to specialists
If your condition requires additional care — such as an orthopedic surgeon, neurologist, or physiatrist — your doctor can provide the referral and guide you on what to expect next. - Coordinated care with your physiotherapist
Your physio and doctor stay connected. Your physiotherapist will send progress notes, and the doctor will update your care plan as needed. This keeps everyone working toward the same goal: helping you feel better, move better, and get back to what you love. - Support for insurance or medical forms
Many extended health plans require a doctor’s referral for certain services or reimbursements. A consultation ensures your documentation is complete and accurate. - Ideal for complex or long-standing injuries
If you’ve been stuck, plateaued, or injured multiple times, a doctor’s assessment can uncover what’s been happening
