Meet Jayme Muir, our new Markham Physiotherapist

By December 11th, 2025No Comments

Jayme is an Orthopedic Therapist with specialties in Pelvic Health and Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy. Jayme has her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto. Before that, she graduated with honours from Western University with a BA in Kinesiology –  where she played varsity basketball. We interviewed Jayme to help you get to know her a bit better!

Why Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy caught my eye when I was in high school. A job where I work with different people everyday, talk about exercise and sport, and don’t have to sit at a desk? Count me in!

However, it wasn’t until later that I truly began to understand what a huge impact a physiotherapist can have on a person’s health and overall well-being. After making the varsity basketball team at Western, I underwent surgery within my first month for two herniated discs at only 18 years old.

They told me I wouldn’t walk until  6 months after surgery. They said I might not be able to play sports again. But, working with fantastic physiotherapists I returned to playing sports and managing my chronic pain.

The physiotherapists took the time to see me as a whole person. They helped me work through my injury, and the mental aspects that come along with it.

It’s now my mission to be that person for other people. I want to help you overcome the fear of returning to sports or daily activities. I want to provide you with the reassurance that you are strong and resilient. I want to help you meet your goals – whatever they may be!

What types of Physiotherapy do you provide?

I am an Orthopaedic Therapist. I also specialize in Pelvic Health and Vestibular Physiotherapy.

As an orthopedic therapist I dedicate myself to ensuring you understand your condition, so you can play an active role in your recovery and be in control of your progress. My treatment approach focuses around exercise prescription (that meets your needs), manual therapy, and patient education to help you achieve your personal goals.

As a pelvic health specialist – If you experience urgency or leakage when going to the washroom, unresolved low back pain, or have general pelvic pain, I can help. I completed post-graduate training in the assessment and treatment of incontinence and pelvic pain in men and women to provide the best pelvic health care.

I also specialize in Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy. If you experience dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, and blurred vision, I’m here to help. I use repositioning manoeuvres, exercise, and education to help resolve these ailments.

Lastly, I completed postgraduate coursework in taping, TMJ Dysfunction, and paediatric neurodevelopment to best serve you.

What do you hope to achieve within the next 5 years?

In the next 5 years, I hope I’ll be a strong part of the Markham community, playing and coaching basketball, and developing meaningful relationships with the people around me!

Professionally I plan to obtain my Diploma of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy.  I also look forward to expanding my pelvic health knowledge, taking further pelvic floor courses, enriching my understanding.  My dream is to provide pelvic and paediatric care to moms and their children in the Markham area.

What do you like to do when you are not hanging out at The Physio Spot?

In my free time you can usually find me hiking or biking a trail around Markham or working out at Centennial Community Centre. Otherwise, I am in the kitchen baking treats or in front of the tv watching the Raptors win Championships!

You might even find me getting Greek Fries from Main St. Greek (they are the best) or a pizza from Slice of Fire!

When can I see you?

I will be at The Physio Spot Tuesdays and Fridays, you can book with me online at thephysiospot.ca, or over the phone at (905) 471-8200. I am excited to serve you here in the Markham area, and I cannot wait to meet you!
