What do you do? What’s your specialty?

Pilates for Fitness, Posture & Rehab in groups and personal training.  I’ve worked full-time teaching Pilates for 13 years and was a client for 2 years prior to that.  Posture and pain are connected and I love how Pilates can help people move, improve posture, establish good strong core connections and reduce or eliminate chronic pain and tension with a simple Pilates practice.

How long have you been in Markham? Why did you choose to setup your business in Markham?

13 years – I have friends, family and church and music community here.

What’s your favourite food/restaurant in Markham?Rawlicious – love raw food!

Why should someone try Pilates? What makes your service special?

Pilates and Posture can be a game changer for all that ails a person.  Building a strong connection to core improves resilience and strength overall and not only helps you look amazing, but feel amazing and improve your health and happiness.  SOL’s studio is a strong community of clients and we love how clients connect and network while doing good things for their health and mind.

What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of work?

Music – I sing and write.  Paddle boarding – I teach, I paddle and it’s my zen.  Anything outdoors really all year round!

What would you say to someone interested in your services but scared to reach out?

We offer a free consult so you can get a sense of the studio and how we work with clients.  Pilates is an investment in your posture, your health and your life and though there is a learning curve, your curiousity and goals make it all very rewarding

What myth would you like to break or reinforce about your profession or skillset?

Some people say Pilates is hard, others say it is too slow or easy…truth is it is challenging and we encourage you to learn how to work smart through Pilates and apply this to all other forms of fitness.  Everyone should know about Pilates foundations for any other sport or activity they do.

If money were no object, what would you be doing?

Pilates on the Beach 🙂

If you could have a billboard up in the sky, for all to read, what would it say?

Flourish, find peace, extend grace to others – this is you in balance…

What’s the best part about helping clients?

Seeing their new found appreciation for their body, their strength and observing how posture can change their emotions and psychology.

How has a failure set you up for later success?

Having patience and letting things come around has been more successful than striving and straining to get to something or somewhere.  In my teaching, I have to observe where my clients are at in their day to discern how best to teach them each session.

What is one of the best or most worthwhile investments you’ve ever made?

A really great mattress!

In the last five years, what new belief, behaviour, or habit has most improved your life?

Waking early is just about the best thing I can do for myself!

What are bad recommendations you hear in Pilates?

Sometimes people are trying to find posture with some very aggressive techniques and we try to remind them that posture shouldn’t really be so much work, good posture should be sustainable and energizing and natural.

We thank you, Lynne, for letting us interview you. We encourage our clients to check out her studio and try Pilates. A free session sounds like a great deal!
